Special Education Director

Job Summary

Salisbury R-IV School District is currently accepting applications for the Special Education Director position for the 2025-2026 school year. The selected candidate will oversee and administer all aspects of the district’s Special Education program, including Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), 504 Plans, and the Homeless Local Education Agency (LEA) program.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education Administration or a related field.

  • Director of Special Education Certification preferred.

  • Missouri Administrative Certification in Special Education or the ability to obtain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate special education services for qualifying students.

  • Ensure school policies align with special education requirements and recommend necessary updates.

  • Oversee policies and programs that support exceptional children.

  • Manage and facilitate the district’s homeless student program.

  • Supervise home instruction for homebound or hospitalized students.

  • Coordinate transportation services for eligible special education students.

  • Stay informed of legal requirements and financial aid related to special education.

  • Lead the development and improvement of special education programs.

  • Establish procedures for referral, evaluation, placement, and reappraisal of students requiring special services.

  • Assist in recruiting, selecting, and hiring special education staff.

  • Maintain complete and up-to-date student records.

  • Oversee programs that supplement classroom instruction for students with learning or visual disabilities.

  • Provide consultation and support to parents of students in special education programs.

  • Commit to professional development by staying updated on current research, literature, and attending relevant meetings.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of staff development for special education.

  • Manage special education complaints and ensure compliance with required services.

  • Collaborate with external providers and utilize Therapy Log for Medicaid billing.

  • Serve as the district representative in IEP meetings.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Elementary Teacher-The Salisbury R-IV School District is seeking an early childhood/ elementary teacher for the 2025-26 school year. Salisbury is a rural district located 25 minutes west of Moberly on Highway 24. Salisbury Elementary is a K-6 building with an enrollment of 220 students.  QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Possess or be able to train to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License with passenger and School Bus (S) endorsement

    • Salisbury R-IV will provide training to assist in obtaining this license if needed

    • The School Bus (S) endorsement requires an annual physical exam

  • Minimum of two years driving experience (does not have to be a school bus)

  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug test

  • Complete a background check

  • Exhibit professionalism

  • Experience repairing and servicing school buses or other vehicles, willingness to learn as training can be provided
